How to brew - Premium Uji Matcha

To help you enjoy the best possible cup, here’s our brewing guide.

[How to Prepare Hot Matcha (Usucha)]

  1. Prepare the Matcha: Place 1.5-2g of matcha (2 chashaku scoops or 1 heaped teaspoon) into a matcha bowl. We recommend sifting the matcha to prevent lumps.

  2. Add Hot Water: Pour approximately 60ml of hot water at the appropriate temperature (around 80°C). Using boiling water directly can result in excessive bitterness.

  3. Whisk: Using a bamboo whisk (chasen), rapidly move your wrist back and forth to mix the matcha and water thoroughly. Whisk from the bottom of the bowl until a fine, even foam covers the surface.

  4. Serve: The matcha is ready when it has a smooth consistency and a delicate foam on top.

[How to Prepare Cold Brew Matcha (Recommended for Summer)]

  1. Place 2g of matcha into a clean bottle and add 150ml of cold water.

  2. Seal the bottle and shake well, or whisk thoroughly, then chill in the refrigerator.

  3. After a few hours, your mellow and refreshing cold brew matcha is complete.
